Debra Davis is an award-winning transgender educator, activist, and nationally renown speaker, trainer, author, and frequent keynote speaker at conferences and conventions throughout the country. In the last 20 years she has given over 1,100 presentations and workshops. She is the Executive Director of the Gender Education Center, a Minnesota non-profit organization of transgender people dedicated to support, advocacy and education. Ms. Davis consults employers, law enforcement, human rights agencies and not-for-profit service providers regarding policies that affect transgender people and is especially effective in coordinating workplace transitions for transgender employees. Ms. Davis, a retired high school librarian, came out in May of 1998 as a transgender woman at Southwest High School in the Minneapolis Public Schools. Healing the Past - Chanda Parkinson

Chanda has always had a passion for helping  people. As a young adult, she was the “class counselor” assisting her  friends with life’s challenges. Troy is the author of Bridge to the Afterlife: A Medium's Message of Hope & Healing (Llewellyn). He is a medium, inspirational speaker and filmmaker. Troy first began his study of the afterlife over 10  years ago.

Troy  holds private sittings, small group sessions and public demonstrations of mediumship, along with  inspirational workshops and events. As  an inspirational speaker, Troy brings a lighthearted,  down to earth approach to all things spiritual.  He believes the connection to spirit is something  we all have and that it is not just for the “gifted.”  Troy really considers himself “just an ordinary guy” who simply dusted off his intuitive muscle and began to exercise it. Along his journey,  Troy has studied a number of teachings including  the journey of the soul, reincarnation, near death  experiences and Reiki.

Rev. Lisa Severson is an Intuitive Healer and Interfaith Minister. Her spiritual quest started 25 years ago and led her to employment at a metaphysical book store, along with training in psychic development and meditation. After finding out by the age of 30 she had two “incurable diseases” she expanded her studies to include natural healing. She began studying Healing Touch, Medical Intuition, and all forms of spirituality as well as starting a job at a natural health clinic. From there she furthered her training to include Functional Medicine and Natural Health. While she began this journey to help her own healing process she soon recognized it was her calling to help others as a healer, spiritual guide and teacher. By 2005 she was certified and ordained as an Interfaith Minister of Healing and had been “incurable disease” free for several years.

Location

There are dozens of hotels within 10 miles of Spirit River.  (Expedia’s choices click here) We looked for at least 2 star hotels, but there are cheeper places to stay if you change the star rating in Expedia or use a different search engine.  We like the hotels in the Maple Grove area, along I94 for their convenience and easy access to Spirit River.  Just a 10 to 12 minute trip north on HWY 169. There is also wonderful shopping and other things to do in the Maple Grove area. The Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park is also a wonderful, higher-end hotel with a excellent restaurant. ( a little pricey)  If you want other suggestions feel free to call us.  (Debbie Davis has lived in the area for 30 years - 763/424--5445)
